Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The 16th annual Duluth-Vaxjo Soccer Exchange (DVSE) tournament ended on Wednesday morning with a perfect split --- Swedish-based teams won two championships and United States-based teams won two championships.

The title games brought to a close a three-day tournament that was part of a larger sister city exchange between Duluth and Vaxjo, a program that organizers say is a unique opportunity for those involved.

"I think for most this is their first international experience," DVSE Duluth chapter president Cindy Hedstrom said. "For some of them, it might be their only international experience, and I think what makes this one so unique is you have a common interest right away. Soccer, it's the common thread."

Four teams and more than 100 people from Vaxjo, Sweden were visiting the Northland during this year's exchange, which will come to a close over the upcoming weekend.
