Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids senior goaltender Hunter Shepard has been named the 2014 recipient of the Frank Brimsek Award, which is given each year to the most outstanding senior goaltender in Minnesota boys' hockey. Shepard had an overall record of (18-9) this season for the Thunderhawks, posting a 2.64 goals against average and a .918 saves percentage. His teammate, Avery Peterson, was named the 2014 recipient of the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award, marking the first time the two award winners have come from the same school. Shepard will graduate this spring and plans to continue his career next winter with the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
