Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids senior Jake Bischoff has been named the recipient of the inaugural Reed Larson Award, which will be given out each year to the top senior defenseman in the state of Minnesota.
Bischoff finished an injury-shortened 2012-13 season with eight goals and 17 assists, captaining his Thunderhawks team to the Section 7AA championship game.
Also a finalist for the 2013 Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award, the Grand Rapids senior has committed to play in college at the University of Minnesota and was taken 185th overall by New York in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.
Bischoff finishes his high school career averaging more than a point per contest, totaling 24 goals and 70 assists across 71 games played for Grand Rapids.
The inaugural Reed Larson Award will be presented to Bischoff at 7:00 p.m. on March 6 as part of the Class AA State Tournament Banquet.
