Esko, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Ely football team kept Kelliher-Northome off the board in the second half en route to clinching their second straight section title 32-22 on Friday night at Les Knuti Field in Esko. The Timberwolves used an 85-yard interception return by Louis Gerzin to put them ahead 12-8 in the second quarter. The Mustangs answered with their own interception returned for a touchdown. With the first half winding down, Sean Jordan hit Mark Heiman for a 25-yard touchdown that put Ely ahead for good. The Timberwolves capped off an undefeated regular season and handed the Mustangs their first loss of the season.
