Esko, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Crews started to install a new turf field on Monday at the new athletic facility in Esko, Minn., part of a $2.7 million renovation project that is expected to be completed by next spring.

The new surface will provide the Eskomos with an all-weather field, something football coach Bill Hudspith calls a huge step for the program.

"You always worry about field conditions, and this one will be the same day in and day out," Hudspith said. "You'll actually have to think because half your games are on grass, so the kids will have to transition and get used to playing on grass."

The turf is being installed for the multi-use football and soccer field, with the facility renovations also including a baseball and softball field, multi-weather track, and building for concessions and locker rooms.

The field is expected to be complete in time for Esko's homecoming football game on September 27, with the baseball and softball fields and track expected to be done in time for the spring seasons.
