Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Scott Diamond made his first start for the Twins this season after off-season surgery, but Matt Harvey nearly threw a no-hitter to lead the New York Mets over Minnesota, 4-2.
Diamond pitched four scoreless innings before giving up four earned runs in the fifth. Justin Morneau hit his first home run of the 2013 season to get the Twins on the board, and Josh Willingham doubled in Joe Mauer in the ninth, but that's all the offense Minnesota could muster.
The Twins (4-7) have now lost five in a row. The series finale against the Mets is set for Sunday at 1:10 p.m.
