UMD Hoops Splits at Home with Upper Iowa

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's basketball team snapped a six-game skid on Friday night with a 65-53 win over Upper Iowa, while the Bulldogs men dropped a close 70-69 contest to the Peacocks.

The women were led by the 19 points of Barnum, Minn. native Katrina Newman, with her younger sister and fellow Barnum, Minn. native Jessica Newman adding 14.

The men, meanwhile, got 23 points from Brett Ervin and 21 from Jake Hottenstine in the losing effort, marking the team's fourth straight defeat.
