Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Cannon Falls senior Emilee Trost has signed a national letter of intent to run track and field for the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), the school announced on Thursday morning.

Trost, who is the reigning MSHSL champion in cross country and the 800-meter run, will join the Bulldogs for the 2014-15 athletic season.

"I am thrilled and honored to have this remarkable young lady join the Bulldog track and cross country family," UMD head coach Joanna Warmington said. "Emilee's elite athleticism and academic success will help elevate our program to an even higher level. She is a mentally-tough and driven athlete. I'm excited to see the journey she creates at UMD."

Trost is a native of Goodhue, Minn. and was home schooled throughout high school, but she has competed the past five seasons for Cannon Falls.
