Tampa, FL (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Duluth native and UMD senior captain Jack Connolly has been named the winner of the 2012 Lowe's Senior CLASS award, presented annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in men's college hockey.
The award, voted on by NCAA Division I men's hockey coaches, media, and fans, recognizes a student-ath;ete's achievement in four areas - classroom, character, community, and competition.
Connolly was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) player of the year in the 2011-12 season and has also been named three times to the all-WCHA academic team.
He is the second Bulldog to be named a finalist for this award and the first-ever UMD student-athlete to be named the winner.
