UMD's Plante, USA Lose Hlinka Opener

Piestany, Slovakia (NNCNOW.com) --- Cloquet, Minn. native and University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) assistant men's hockey coach Derek Plante and his United States Under-18 team dropped the first game of the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament on Monday, falling to Finland 3-2 in overtime.

Plante is serving as an assistant coach for the United States team, which is now (0-1-0) in preliminary play at the international tournament.

The Americans will play again on Tuesday against Russia, with that game set to start at 7:00 a.m. CT.
