UMD's Ring Named AFCA All-American

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) senior linebacker Colby Ring has been named a second team Division II All-American by the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA), it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Ring, a co-captain in 2013 for the Bulldogs, led the team this fall in tackles (65) for a third consecutive season and also tied for the team lead for interceptions (3).

The Baxter, Minn. native was also named this season to the all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) first team and the Daktronics all-Super Region 3 second team.

In his 54 games at UMD, Ring has totaled the third-most tackles in program history (283) and added to that 8.5 quarterback sacks, five forced fumbles, and four interceptions.
