Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) senior forward Maureen Stormont has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) preseason offensive player of the year, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Stormont led the conference in scoring last season, setting a new program record with 43 total points coming from 18 goals and seven assists.

Coming into her final collegiate season, the Stillwater, Minn. native ranks third all-time at UMD with 39 goals and fourth with 93 total points. She was an all-NSIC first team pick last fall and also earned two all-region honors.

The Bulldogs are currently on the tail end of a 10-day trip to Europe and will open the 2014 season Sept. 5 against Southwest Baptist.
