Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) assistant men's basketball coach Kevin Williamson confirmed to NNCNOW.com on Monday afternoon that he is one of three finalists for the open men's basketball head coaching job at the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC). UMC's sports information director, Shawn Smith, also confirmed the news and said the school hopes to make an offer for the job sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. The other two finalists are Daniel Weisse, assistant coach at MSU-Moorhead, and Jeff Kaminsky, head coach at Valley City State. Chad Welk, assistant coach at Southwest Minnesota State, was also named a finalist but withdrew his name before an on-campus interview. Williamson has been with the Bulldogs under head coach Matt Bowen the past two seasons, helping UMD to a (20-34) overall record in that time. Before coming to UMD, Williamson spent two seasons working under Bowen at Bemidji State and was part of that program's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) championship in the 2011-12 season.
