St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- After a busy morning for the Wild, the free agent frenzy continued as Minnesota signed Matt Cooke to a three-year deal worth $7.5 million and traded Devin Setoguchi to Winnipeg for a future pick. The Wild traded Devin Setoguchi earlier in the night to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2014 second-round pick that cleared up $3 million and allowed for the Cooke signing. The 34-year-old Cooke registered 21 points and 36 penalty minutes in 48 games in Pittsburgh last season. The forward is known as a physical player especially after he intentionally stomped on Erik Karlsson last year in Ottawa. "There are probably a lot of fans (in Minnesota) who might not be too fond of me from my days in Vancouver," Cooke said. "But hopefully I can change their opinions." Setoguchi, who played in Minnesota for two seasons, registered 27 points in 48 games with the Wild last season. Posted by Sarah Wheeler swheeler@kbjr.com
