Wainwright Throws a Shutout, Brewers Slide On

St. Louis, MO (NNCNOW.com) --- Adam Wainwright pitched a four-hitter and drove in two runs for with three hits for St. Louis as the Cardinals blanked the Brewers, 8-0, handing them their third straight loss.

Milwaukee ace Yovani Gallardo allowed six runs including five earned and seven hits in just 5 1/3 innings. His counterpart Wainwright retired the first ten batters he faced and matched his career-high by striking out 12 in his fifth career shutout and 12th complete game.

Ryan Braun struck out three times for the second straight day, and Logan Schafer also fanned three times for Milwaukee.

The series finale between the Brewers (2-8) and Cardinals is slated for Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
