Wild Re-Sign D-Man Spurgeon to 3-Year Deal

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Wild locked up defenseman Jared Spurgeon to a three-year contract on Friday worth $2.66 million per year after NHL free agency opened up at 11 a.m.

The 23-year-old defenseman came to Minnesota in 2010 after he was unsigned by the New York Islanders. Spurgeon had 15 points in 39 games last season and has played 162 in three seasons with the Wild.

The 5-foot-9 native of Edmonton, Alb. skated in all five playoff games last season and ranked fourth on the team in time on ice per game at 21:15.
