#1 Bulldogs Roll in 2011 Home Opener

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #1 UMD Bulldogs football team won its 31st consecutive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) game on Saturday, defeating Upper Iowa 49-22 at Malosky Stadium.

Junior quarterback Chase Vogler threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another, while freshman running back Austin Sikorski rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the Bulldogs 2011 home opener.

Cody Eich led the team with nine tackles, followed closely by Joe Doherty with eight as the Bulldogs moved to (2-0) this season.

Travis Nordhus and Zach Hulce also scored touchdowns for the defending national champions before a crowd of 4,777.

The Bulldogs will visit Wayne State next Saturday for their first NSIC road game of the 2011 season.
