Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) men's hockey assistant coach Derek Plante says it was great to see the team get a win this past Friday against St. Cloud State, but equally disappointing to leave two league points on the table with a Saturday night loss.

The win Friday was UMD's first in eight games, with Plante calling that a huge "elephant off the back" for the Bulldogs. Saturday night, then, he said the team didn't put forth its best effort, and that led to the frustrating home loss.

There's now a six-game stretch for the Bulldogs that Plante indicated could play a significant role in determing UMD's position at the end of the year, those being weekend series against Michigan Tech, Bemidji State, and Alaska-Anchorage.

Plante made his comments while appearing on the weekly show, "Bulldog Country," which airs Friday and Saturday nights on the My 9 Sports Network.
