Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A goal late in the third period from senior forward Travis Oleksuk sealed a 4-3 win Friday night for the #8-ranked UMD Bulldogs, the same night they unveiled their 2011 NCAA national championship banner.
The Bulldogs opened the regular season with a series against #1-ranked Notre Dame, the same team UMD beat last season in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals.
UMD got first period goals from Mike Seidel and Duluth East graduate Keegan Flaherty, then a lone second period goal from J.T. Brown.

The Bulldogs and Fighting Irish will close out the series Saturday night, with faceoff set for 7:07 p.m. at AMSOIL Arena.
