Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #8-ranked UMD Bulldogs jumped out to an 2-0 lead on Saturday night, but gave up five straight goals and eventually lost 5-3 to the #1-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Bulldogs got two goals from Mike Seidel and another from Travis Oleksuk in the loss, but could not overcome the five straight goals from the Fighting Irish.

Aaron Crandall got the start in goal for UMD, his first in the 2011-12 regular season, but was the victim of a strong Notre Dame offense and some bad puck luck.

Saturday's goal scorers for UMD both scored on Friday night as well, but the offensive output was not enough to earn a weekend sweep.

The Bulldogs fall to (1-1-0) this season with the loss, and now will prepare to host in-state and conference rival Minnesota next weekend at AMSOIL Arena.
