Former St. Scholastica hockey player Aaron Spotts (Spokane, Wash) has signed a professional contract for the rest of the season with the Quad City Mallards of the International Hockey League (IHL).

“I am very excited and it is a great opportunity,” said Spotts. “It kind of came out of nowhere.”

Spotts said that he was talking to his agent about playing in his hometown of Spokane and was going to drive home when he got the call from the Mallards.

The Mallards have eight games left in their season and play next on Friday night at the Port Huron IceHawks.

Spotts played in 90 career games for the Saints the last four seasons and racked up 45 points (22 goals, 23 assists). Spotts also excelled in the classroom as he was twice named to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All-Academic team
