A pair of UWS softball players earned high marks, as outfielder Taylor VanDamme and Infielder Ashley Martin were named to the All-Great Lakes Region team.
VanDamme, who transferred from UMD, was a first-team honoree, while Martin was selected to the second team.
Both from Superior, they helped the Yellowjackets reach the WIAC conference tournament. UWS finished the year at (25-11-1).
VanDamme led the Yellowjackets in hitting, with a .440 batting average, which ranked fifth in the conference. Taylor also hit 10 home runs, which was tied for second among the conference's best.
Martin was not far behind, as she ranked 8th in the WIAC with a .417 batting average. She also stole a team leading 13 bases, and scored 40 runs, which ranked 5th and 6th respectively among the conference leaders.
