Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Wisconsin and Alabama will open the 2015 college football season at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the two schools announced on Wednesday.
"As a league we decided that we needed to upgrade our non-conference schedule," Wisconsin athletics director Barry Alvarez said. "There's no better way to do that than by playing the defending national champions. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play a storied program like Alabama in a terrific venue like Cowboys Stadium. It will be a great experience for our program, our players and our fans."
Wisconsin will enter the 2013 season as three-time defending Big Ten champions, and Alabama will come in as two-time defending BCS champions.
The two programs have faced each other just once before, that being a 15-0 Badgers win on Nov. 3, 1928 at Camp Randall in Madison, Wis.
The game is scheduled for Sept. 5, 2015, but a specific time and television network have yet to be determined.
