Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Barnum native and UMD sophomore Katrina Newman was named Thursday to the first team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) all-conference team.
Newman was named last season as the NSIC freshman of the year, and this year she leads UMD in scoring with 14.3 points per game.
She is also tops in the NSIC in offensive rebounds, pulling down 3.23 offensive boards every contest.
Bulldogs' senior Shelly Stemper was also honored by the NSIC on Thursday, being named the conference's defensive player of the year.
Stemper has helped UMD limit opposing teams to just 58.3 points per game this season and also leads the team with 1.82 steals per game.
UMD senior Emma Van Winkle was also named to the NSIC all-defensive team.
