Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #1 UMD Bulldogs football team has won 30 consecutive games in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), four away from an all-time record.

They will try to extend that streak to 31 this Saturday when they host the Upper Iowa Peacocks at Malosky Stadium. That game is set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. and can be seen live in the Northland on the My 9 Sports Network.

The Bulldogs also have won 27 straight NSIC games at home, spanning almost 11 years, and will try to extend that streak on Saturday as well.

"It's always fun for the home opener," Bulldogs senior left guard Garth Heikkinen said. "One thing our coaches say is treat every opponent the same way through preparation and everything else. We have to keep that same mindset and stay hungry each week."

"It's more about us this week," UMD offensive line coach Peter Lue said. "We need to get better from last week, get better fundamentally on both sides of the football. They're going to bring us their best game. Their linebackers corps is very good, and their defensive line is fairly decent. If we're not in the right place and not playing physical, they're going to take advantage of that. We need to continue to play our game and play like every game is the championship."
