Bulldogs' Niemann Third in NSIC Decathlon

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) senior Ben Niemann turned in his final Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) outdoor decathlon performance on Monday, also turning in his best-ever finish in the event.

Niemann placed third in the two-day event, with his 6,305 points marking the second-highest mark in program history and an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.

The UMD sophomore placed second in the long jump and took home third in the 100-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, and the pole vault.

Niemann's teammate, sophomore Brooks Zamzow, finished ninth in the event with 5,383 total points.
