Bulldogs Picked 7th in Preseason AVCA Poll

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team is ranked seventh in the preseason poll put out by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA), it was announced on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs finished the 2011 season ranked sixth in the AVCA poll, that after posting a (28-4) overall record and claiming a share of the Northern Sun Intercolllegiate Conference (NSIC) championship.

UMD was one of five teams from the NSIC to crack the top 25 in the preseason AVCA poll, with defending NCAA Division II champion Concordia-St. Paul laying claim to the top spot.

UMD opened practice for the 2012 season on Monday afternoon, with the team's season opener set for August 31 at a tournament in Kirksville, Mo.
