Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team will, for a second straight season, play all 11 of its regular season games within the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The five-time defending NSIC North champions will open the season at home on Sept. 7 against Sioux Falls, marking the start of an 81st season for the Bulldogs football program.
UMD went (10-2) a year ago and qualified for a fifth consecutive NCAA Division II tournament, but the team will enter 2013 with a new head coach in Curt Wiese, who takes over for 10-year veteran Bob Nielson.
The Bulldogs open spring practice on April 1 and will hold their annual Maroon-White scrimmage on April 26 at Maloski Stadium in Duluth, Minn.
