Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) freshman goalkepeer Marissa Rosa has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) defensive player of the week, it was announced on Monday.
Rosa made nine saves in two games over the weekend, helping the Bulldogs to a 1-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State and a 6-0 victory over Sioux Falls.
Not only were the shutouts the first of Rosa's collegiate career, the wins were also a first for the UMD freshman. She now owns a (2-1) record in 2012 for the Bulldogs.
