'Dogs Rush for Over 400 Yards, Rout Hornets

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team rushed for nearly 500 yards en route to blowing out Emporia State 55-13 in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs on Saturday at Malosky Stadium.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Drew Bauer racked up four rushing touchdowns and 173 yards on 14 carries, a career high. Junior running back Austin Sikorski added 122 yards and a touchdown for this fifth 100-yard game of the year.

The Bulldogs sacked Hornets quarterback Corben Jones seven times and picked him off five times. Senior strong safety Travis Nordhus and sophomore cornerback Darion Fletcher had two interceptions each.

UMD (11-1) heads to Northwest Missouri State (11-0) on Saturday to take on the Bearcats at 12:00 p.m.
