Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The UMD football team started spring practice on Monday afternoon at Malosky Stadium in Duluth, dealing with the first snow flurries the Northland had seen in quite some time.

The Bulldogs were (11-3) a year ago and captured at least a share of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) title for the fourth straight season.

Defensive coordinator Todd Strop resigned from his position just last week, citing family reasons for his departure, and fourth-year assistant coach Tyler Yelk is filling in on an interim basis.

UMD's offense this season, meanwhile, will feature senior quarterback Chase Vogler and senior All-American guard Garth Heikkinen, among several other returning starters.
