Colorado Springs, CO (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and the CBS Sports Network have agreed to a multi-year deal to begin in the 2013-14 season, it was announced on Tuesday.
The deal calls for a minimum of 18 televised conference games per season, including the NCHC semifinal and championship contests.
With the agreement, CBS Sports Network becomes the exclusive national television partner of the new NCHC, which features eight of the nation's elite men's college hockey programs.
"We are delighted to be associated with the preeminent national broadcaster of college hockey," said NCHC Commissioner Jim Scherr. "It is our goal to be the premier single-sport conference in intercollegiate athletics and the unmatched exposure and production quality that will be provided by CBS Sports Network will contribute significantly to realizing that vision."
The new conference features UMD, North Dakota, Denver, Colorado College, Nebraska-Omaha, Miami (OH) University, Western Michigan, and St. Cloud State.
The new league will see its first season in the 2013-14 college hockey calendar.
