Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica senior cross country runner Chelsea Johnson said on Monday that the biggest after-effect of her NCAA Division III championship this past weekend has been a smile that she can't get off her face.
"It felt incredible," Johnson said of winning the national championship. "There's not even words for it, really. It was amazing. Every time someone congratulates me it's like, 'Wow, it actually happened.' It's cool."
Johnson won the school's first-ever NCAA Division III championship this past weekend, finishing the 6-kilometer course in a time of 21:11.7, putting her comfortably ahead of runner-up Noelle Olson.
The win was a program-reocrd sixth straight for the senior runner, who also set a program record with eight wins on the season.
The victory also means Johnson will be named for a second straight year an NCAA Division III All-American, an honor she earned for the fist time in 2012 after finishing 15th at the national meet.
