Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- UMD senior forwards Jack Connolly and Travis Oleksuk, along with sophomore forward J.T. Brown, have been named candidates for this year's Hobey Baker Memorial Award.
Connolly is tied for the nationwide scoring lead with 33 points this year, with Oleksuk and Brown each standing with 26 points.
Fan voting for the Hobey Baker, given annually to the best player in college hockey, will run through March 4, when the list will be cut down to 10 finalists.
Connolly, this year's captain for the #1-ranked Bulldogs, was a top-10 finalist last season but didn't make it into the top three, now called the Hobey Hat Trick.
As of this writing, Connolly leads the fan voting section of the process with a staggering 18 percent, with Oleksuk and Brown each garnering 1 percent.
