Winnipeg, MB (NNCNOW.com) --- Esko, Minn. native and future University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) forward Karson Kuhlman is skating this week at the Winnipeg Jets development camp, his first-ever taste of true NHL-level competition.

Kuhlman told TSN Radio 1290 that he wants to both improve his game and impress the Winnipeg coaching staff during the weeklong camp, and he has a plan on how to do that.

"I think you've just to play your game," Kuhlman said, "and I know my game is gritty and speed all over the ice. I think that's just what I've got to do. Don't try to do too much."

Kuhlman played this past season for Dubuque of the United States Hockey League and will join UMD this fall as a freshman.
