Ashland, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Northland College women's soccer coach Amanda Evans has resigned her position and men's soccer coach Olaf Kirsten will take over control of the team on an interim basis, it was announced on Monday.

Kirsten, who has coached the men's team the past two seasons and amassed a record of (1-35-2), previously coached the Northland women's program in the 2010 season.

"The timing of this change is challenging, but we are lucky to have a qualified coach to temporarily fill the vacancy," said Northland College athletics director Bill Wilson. "I appreciate Coach Kirsten and his assistant coaches stepping in to not only coach our women's soccer student-athletes, but to ensure we maintain recruiting consistency."

Kirsten graduated in 1985 from Northland College, where he served two years as captain of the men's soccer team and was named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) all-district performer in his senior year.

Northland College will conduct a national search to find a permanent head women's soccer coach immediately following the 2013 season.
