Ex- Eskomo Wirtz Earns WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award

Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Esko, Minn. native Farrah Wirtz has been named the 2012 recipient of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman women's volleyball scholar-athlete award, it was announced on Tuesday.

Wirtz boasts a 3.92 grade point average at UW-Superior, where she is majoring in elementary education with a minor in broad field science.

The former Eskomo was a team captain this year as a senior, leading the team with 533 digs to finish with 1,001 in her collegiate career.

In addition to Wirtz's honor, Yellowjackets teammates Nikki Gosson and Keely Deadrick, another former Eskomo, were also given on Tuesday all-WIAC honorable mention for their play in the 2012 season.
