Boise, ID (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward David Grun has been added to the training camp roster of the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Idaho Steelheads, the team announced on Thursday.
"It's right below the [American Hockey League], and guys get called up all the time. It's a start," Grun said. "The process is pretty much the same. You've got to work hard. You've still got to work out. The schedule changes a bit because the professional season starts later, so you get a bit more of the offseason."
Grun played in 113 games across four seasons with the Bulldogs, totaling 12 goals and 15 assists during his collegiate career. He was also a member of UMD's NCAA Division I championship team in the 2010-11 season.
“David is a big, strong winger from a strong college program with great work ethic that we think should be able to produce offensively here,” Idaho head coach Brad Ralph said.
The Steelheads start the 2012-13 season on October 12, when Idaho hosts Utah at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Ida.
