Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) players Justin Faulk and Tim Stapleton are two of the first 15 players selected Thursday to the United States roster for the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship.
Faulk has played 36 games this 2012-13 season with the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, totaling five goals and 10 assists over that time.
In his one season with UMD, Faulk finished with eight goals and 25 assists while helping the Bulldogs win the 2011 NCAA Division I championship.
Stapleton, meanwhile, is skating this year with HC Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, having scored 24 goals and added 16 assists in his 52 games played.
Playing four seasons at UMD, Stapleton closed out with his career with 63 goals and 89 assists in 162 games played.
This year's IIHF Wolrd Championship will be held May 3-19 in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden.
