Southaven, MS (NNCNOW.com) --- Former St. Scholastica forward Brandon Nowakowski has signed a contract with the Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), the team announced this week.

"I'm really excited about coming to camp this year and looking forward to trying out for a spot on this team," Nowakowski said. "It would be a great honor to be a part of the RiverKings organization come the 2014-15 season."

The 24-year-old finished his four years at St. Scholastica this past winter, leaving with 44 goals and 37 assists across 101 games for the Saints while also boasting a plus-20 rating.

"Brandon is another player who has had a very successful college career," RiverKings head coach Derek Landmesser said. "He brings a very high battle and compete level and is a very solid two-way player."

Mississippi will start the 2014-15 season Oct. 24 against Pensacola.
