Former Hunter Kanewa Named All-American

Norman, OK (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth Denfeld graduate Maile'ana Kanewa earned first team All-American status on Friday afternoon, that as she helped the Oklahoma gymnastics team to its highest-ever score at the NCAA Division I championships and a spot in the Super Six.

Kanewa scored a 9.95 on floor exercise and a 9.90 on vault, with both scores good enough to make the Sooners sophomore a first team All-American. The former Hunters standout will now compete on Sunday in the individual final for both events.

As a team, Oklahoma finished with a score of 197.500 and qualified for Saturday's Super Six championship to ultimately decide a national champion.
