Pesacola, FL (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Former St. Scholastica Saint Jordan Chong was named Thursday as the Southern Professional Hockey League's (SPHL) co-rookie of the year.

Chong, now skating with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, scored 21 goals and had 33 assists this season. Those 33 assists were a league-high among rookies, and his 54 total points ranked second among first-year players.

While at St. Scholastica, Chong served two years as assistant captain and one as captain, scoring 90 points in his Saints hockey career.

He tied a program record with 12 career game-winning goals and was named an All-American his senior season by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
