Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team will have a new coach next season after Pam Borton was fired on Friday following her fifth straight year missing the NCAA tournament.
Borton coached the Gophers for 12 seasons and saw their season come to a close after losing to South Dakota State 70-62 in the third round of the WNIT.
Minnesota hasn't been in the NCAA tournament since the 2008-09 season while going 31-52 in the Big Ten in the past five seasons.
Assistant coach Kelly Roysland was named interim head coach. A national search will begin immediately.
