Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Amanda Kessel scored two goals and added two assists on Sunday afternoon to help lead the University of Minnesota women's hockey team to a 6-3 win over Boston University in the NCAA Division I championship game at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

The championship is the second straight for this Golden Gophers program and closes out a perfect (41-0-0) season for this year's Minnesota team.

Mira Jalosuo, Hannah Brandt, Milica McMillen, and Rachel Ramsey were the other goal scorers for Minnesota, with Noora Räty making 21 saves to earn the win in goal.

The win also extends the Golden Gophers current winning streak to 49 games, an NCAA record that dates back to Feb. 17, 2012.

The national championship is the fourth in Minnesota's history, second only to the five won by the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Every NCAA Division I women's hockey championship has been won by a team from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
