Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota softball team will host an NCAA Division I regional tournament for just the second time in program history, it was announced on Monday.
The Gophers will host Green Bay, Auburn, and North Dakota State in a four-team, double-elimination format, that after the team posted its highest winning percentage ever (.820) and won the Big Ten postseason tournament championship.
The University of Minnesota last hosted a regional tournament in 2002 and is (7-12) all-time in NCAA play. This will be the team's second-straight NCAA appearance after going through a drought before that since 2003.
The Gophers will start the regional tournament with a game against Green Bay, with that scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
