Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Grand Rapids native and Minnesota freshman defenseman Jake Bischoff will make his debut in the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament on Saturday when the top-seeded Gophers take on Robert Morris in the opening-round.

Bischoff, who won the state's Reed Larson award last year, tallied three goals and four assists on the blue line for Minnesota.

Despite an early exit in last weekend's Big Ten conference tournament, Bischoff knows his team will be ready for the spotlight come Saturday.

"I've thought about it a little bit," said Bischoff. "Obviously don't try to get too caught up in it and try to focus on what's going on right and the task at hand which is working hard in practice leading up to it. I'm sure when the time comes it'll be pretty unbelievable."
