Hibbing Native Lange, #7 Bulldogs Move to (4-0)

Kirksville, MO (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The #7-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) volleyball team stayed perfect in the 2012 season on Saturday, winning two matches to be crowned champions of the Days Inn Bulldog Invitational in Kirskville, Mo.

The Bulldogs first beat the University of Missouri-St. Louis 3-0, with Hibbing native and UMD junior outside hitter Kate Lange leading the way with 11 kills and 10 digs.

Kalli Lochner was the only other Bulldog to reach double digit kills, putting down 10 while adding two blocks in the winning effort.

UMD then dispatched of Ashland University in the tournament's title match, winning 3-1 to wrap up play this weekend with a perfect (4-0) record.

Lange again paced the Bulldogs, psoting 22 kills and 11 digs for her third double-double of the 2012 season. Sophomore setter Jaclyn Barrette collected 48 assists, and sophomore libero Julie Rainey finished with 20 digs in the winning effort.

UMD will open the home portion of its 2012 schedule on September 4 against Northern Michigan, with that match set for a 7:00 p.m. start at Romano Gymnasium.
