Bemidji, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hibbing, Minn. native and former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) student Amber Fryklund is one of four finalists for the vacant women's hockey head coaching job at Bemidji State, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Fryklund earned her undergraduate degree from Bemidji State and was a three-year letterwinner for the Beavers, is still the program's all-time leading scorer and has been on staff as an assistant coach since 2011.
Also on Fryklund's coaching resume is a pair of high school assignments --- she was co-head coach of the Duluth Northern Stars from 2004-09 and an assistant coach for the Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall Mirage from 2009-11.
After graduating from Bemidji State in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in education, she moved on to earn a master’s degree in educational leadership from UMD in 2007.
The other three candidates for the head coaching job are Brett Bruininks, Troy Jutting and James Scanlan. All four candidates have been invited to campus for interviews on June 4.
