Iafallo, UMD Win Their First Ever NCHC Shootout

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team housed its biggest crowd in history on Saturday night and prevailed in a shootout 3-2 against No. 16 Denver University.

Alex Iafallo put the Bulldogs ahead in the first period and scored again in the third period to make it 2-1 in favor of UMD. The Pioneers would tie it to force overtime.

After a scoreless OT, both teams headed to a shootout. Iafallo converted his shootout chance along with Caleb Herbert as the Bulldogs won it in four rounds, their first ever NCHC shootout win.

UMD (9-9-2) will play again on Friday against MInnesota State-Mankato in the inaugural North Star College Cup at the Xcel Energy Center.
