Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Kyle Jensen was the lone St. Scholastica baseball player named to the d3baseball.com all-Midwest region first team, it was announced on Monday, with two of his teammates earning second team honors.
The Wyoming, Minn. native led the team with five wins on the mound, finishing the year (5-2) with a 1.53 earned run average. He worked a team-high 58.2 innings and allowed just 10 earned runs, all while striking out a team-best 46 opposing batters.
Jensen also hit for a .223 average this season for the Saints, collecting 14 runs scored and nine runs batted in during his 28 appearances.
Kyle Flagstad and Duluth, Minn. native Mickie Keuning were the other St. Scholastica players to earn all-region honors, with each being named to the second team by d3baseball.com.
Flagstad, a senior outfielder and the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) player of the year, led the Saints this year with 52 runs scored while hitting for a .391 average and batting in another 36 runs.
Keuning, a sophomore pitcher, led the team this year with a 1.19 earned run average while posting a record of (4-1) in 13 appearances. He worked a total of 45.1 innings, allowing just six earned runs while striking out 34 batters.
St. Scholastica finished its 2013 season with a (29-11) overall record.
